band of brothers fanart
medium // pencil

Gene, you called me Babe. Some Doc Roe appreciation, and a little something for nanuk_dain.  Hope you like it! :)

And, this one's special for nanuk_dain! I used her lovely manip as a reference, so go check it out.

feeling: tired

*stunned speechless*

Now THAT is beauty. You're incredibly skilled, girl. You're blowing me away, here!

*tries to be coherent* Let's start with Roe. His expression is so perfect, so alive, and his eyes... *gulp* It's like I can feel what he's feeling, it's so intense and wound up and dark and hopeless and yet he's so beautiful in your drawing... Again, I can't stop being amazed by all the work you put in the little details, and call me weird, but I'm totally stunned by the zipper of Roe's uniform jacket... O_o

As for the second drawing... *tries not to break out in loud squees and jump around her flat* *fails* Oh my, how did you do that?!? It's so full of raw emotions, so much more intense than the manip! Their expressions, their closeness, their feelings, it's all so palpable! It's perfection (yes, I know, repeating myself here ^^) and I absolutely love Roe's hand! It was the kind of hand I wanted, but I couldn't find any photo of that position, so I had to take what I had. But you worked it out so perfectly, and it says so much more than thousand words! I can't tell you how much it means to me that such a skilled, no, gifted artist like you used one of my manips as a reference. Thank you so much! I feel deeply honoured! *hugs you tight* I hope you'll never ever stop drawing. Your works are just too astonishing for that to happen.

Oh, and I totally forgot to ask in my stunned awe, but may I friend you? I'd love to keep up to date with all your beautiful creations ^^

You're just too sweet to be real, you know that? ;) But, really - you have made my week! :D I'm so happy to hear what you have to say - all the time, but for this one in particular.

For the one with just Roe ... I have to say, I'm always surprised when people tell me they see expression in my drawings, but I'm completely thrilled that it comes across. Especially in this one, since it is of Doc at his lowest. And, I have to say that I'm pleased the zipper is getting some attention, because it's one of my favourite parts. :P

And the second drawing - *squeals* I'm just so excited and happy that you like it!!! *hugs* As for the hand, I ended up using my own as a reference. I still think you did a wonderful job, especially when you're limited to what you can find a photo of. (And another reason why they should've cuddled for real - clearly, it would make our lives so much easier. :P ) But you don't give yourself enough credit! Especially since you were the one to come up with this lovely moment. I just loved the expressions you chose; both seeking comfort in each other. I had to give this one a try. I'm happy to know that it turned out. :)

And drawing is too much fun to ever stop! So I don't think I will. ;P I'm also pretty sure that I'll be drawing from your other manips in the future. This was awesome to work on!

(And I'll add you as a friend now! I meant to ask why we aren't yet. :P Problem solved!)

Oh, I'm very real, I assure you XD And I'm happy I could make your day! I know how it is when you wrote/made something and you're waiting for a certain person to reply, I've had that several times. Nothing is better than to get a positive reply, isn't it? ^^ And I feel so honoured that you value my opinion so highly, my dear - the same thing is true for me, I always love to know what you think of my stuff ^^

I can assure you, your drawings always have an expression, and I think that's what makes them so special. Not only that they're technically incredibly well done, but also that they capture the viewer in some kind of atmosphere that's hard to put in words. I love that feeling when a drawing catches your attention so much that you don't care for the rest of the world while looking at it, and to me, that happened with every single one of the drawings you posted. That's a real gift. (As for that zipper, I still can't tell you why, but it's just awesome. I'm relieved to see that I'm not the only one who got caught up on it ^_^).

Oh, and that second drawing, my dear, I don't like it, I LOVE it! You did an amazign job on this! I'm seriously impressed on your skills (but I guess you knew that already ^^) and I love the raw emotion that's so strong in your drawing. It's exactly what the situation is about, I think, and you captured and reinforced it so perfectly! *drifts into rambling praise again* ^^ And thank you so much for giving me credit, but in a way manipping is easier than drawing, I guess, because you don't have to form things, you just adapt them and combine them. It gave me a very good memory, though, and visual thinking, I guess (it's probably good that I always loved jigsaw puzzles) XD. The only problem is that you don't always find the hand/pose/clothes ect that you need, but then I sometimes just digitally draw them (especially clothes are rather easy). And I'm so excited that you might draw from other manips, too *squees happily* That's such a compliment!

Hmmmm, I was wondering something that I wanted to ask you. I don't know if you've read the profile of my fic-and-art comm (http://manor-archives.livejournal.com/profile), but in short I'm trying to assemble everything related to my stuff in the comm. Now I was wondering if you'd honour me by joining and posting your beautiful Babe/Roe drawing? You'd get an artist tag and I'd love to iclude it in the masterlist (with your name, of course ^^). I hope I'm not asking too much, you can of course tell me 'no' and I won't take it badly! I just had to ask because I love your works so much ^^ Wow, this comment bacme a bit longer than I expected... I hope you don't mind XD

PS: I just made the post of your portrait, and I wanted to give you the link. If you want me to take out the reference to your entry, just let me know ^^ http://manor-archives.livejournal.com/22068.html

PPS: I friended you back - and really, why didn't we do this earlier...? ^_^

(LJ, why do you delete my comment after I've finished typing it up? Not cool.)

<3 *hugs forever*

Oh, yes, I absolutely want to draw from your manips again! It was so much fun, and a lovely way to draw a scene that wasn't in the series. Because, as I'm sure I've said before, the level of realism and detail I do requires a reference (so I definitely understand frustrating limitations like that). But you also just pick out the perfect expressions - as I'm also sure I've said before. But the moments you create feel so real already. It was a joy to draw from your manip. :)

And I would love to post my drawing to your community! Now that you've mentioned it to me, I've already joined - so I'll try and post right away! :D And I also commented on your drawing of me. Feel free to keep the link to my post in the entry too. :)

(Ohhh, I know that only too well - that's why I save my looooong comments in a word doc before I try to post. Just in case. Proved to be a good idea, because I'm too lazy to write a two page comment again XD)

*hug back forever* We're be stuck in that hug until the end of time, do you realise that...? How can we draw/manip now...? XD

No doubt you need a reference to draw, considering how incredibly detailed your drawings are, and therefore I'm more than happy to provide them XD Especially scenes that weren't in the series and that I always wanted to see (which is why I make manips, after all XD). I've developed an eye for facial expressions over the time I've been making manips, and it's funny how you can take a scene that has absolutely nothing to do with what you make out of it. Expressions of pain and sexual arousal are very similar, for example, and it often takes only minor changes and you can use them. And there are so many other emotions that a face can express if you take it out of the original context and insert it into another... XD

I'm looking forward to have you post in the comm! It'll be such a great addition to have your beautiful art there! *happy smile* Thanks so much! *still hugging* XDD

ok, so I've mentioned how I love your drawings and am jealous of your talent like billions of times, but it still hasn't changed. I especially love the shading on the second one.
